Dong Bai - Cat Ba ferry terminal

From 5:00 a.m. on March 1, 2024, Dong Bai ferry wharf officially went into operation, welcoming the first passengers, replacing the Got ferry that has been in operation for more than 20 years. This new ferry terminal is expected to reduce congestion and shorten the waiting time of tourists when coming to Cat Ba Island, Hai Phong.

Dong Bai ferry terminal is located about 3km from the old Got wharf, about 8 hectares wide, including a parking lot and transportation infrastructure of the cable car station. The new ferry is a 200-ton sea ferry, equipped with a high-capacity engine, each trip takes about 15 minutes, only 2/3 of the old ferry...

There are a few things to note when using this new ferry terminal:
- From the center of Hai Phong city, you need to cross Tan Vu bridge, to the intersection opposite Vinfast Automobile Factory, there will be a sign indicating the way to Dong Bai ferry terminal (same road to the cable car station). The distance from Tan Vu - Lach Huyen motorway to the ferry ticket station is about 2 km. The new Dong Bai ferry terminal is about 3 km from the previous Got wharf.
- From Dong Bai wharf (Cat Hai district) to Cai Vieng wharf (Cat Ba island) is 1.86 km, 120m longer than the old route, travel time across Cat Hai strait is about 10 minutes longer.

The landing area to welcome passengers and vehicles is 61.4 m long, 35 m wide, with a slope of nearly 11%, welcoming two large ferries and one small ferry at the same time.

Ferry time:
- Dong Bai Wharf: first trip at 5:30 a.m., last trip of the day at 6:30 p.m.
- Cai Vieng wharf: first trip at 5:30 a.m., last trip at 6:00 p.m.

The time between each ferry ranges from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the time of day. On crowded days, the ferry terminal will arrange additional trips in the schedule to serve passengers.

Ferry ticket prices applied from January 1 to June 30 range from 9,800 VND (for pedestrians) to 810,000 VND (cars from 10 to 13 tons with cargo). Ticket prices for some popular means of transport:
